Sardar samand, Rajasthan

Sardar Samand (62 km from Jodhpur) is named after the current Maharaja Gaj Singh's great grandfather. It lies on the road that leads onward to Udaipur and Ranakpur. Situated on a hill, the Sardar Samand Lake was commissioned by Maharaja Umaid Singh in 1933. Designed by the state architect George Goldstraw, the palace, built in natural rock, is a fine example of the decorative Art Deco style of the nineteen thirties.

The scenery of this lake is fascinating. Sardar Samand Lake attracts countless varieties of migratory birds. So, if you are a bird watcher, this is the place to be. Also enchanted by its placid waters are tourists who come to enjoy peace and solitude of the place.
